Rail passengers across Wales and its borders can now look forward to the transformation of their rail services through significant improvements to the frequency and quality of Wales and Borders rail services, as well as investment in rail infrastructure.
As a Senior Project Manager you’ll lead the delivery of high profile change projects within the Rail Operations team. Ultimately you’ll be responsible for the development of business cases for change, and the delivery of a portfolio of projects.
You’ll provide professional and effective project management, delivering your projects safely, on time and to the highest standards in accordance with the project lifecycle process.
You’ll be responsible for project development, including project scope, goals and definition of project team roles. You’ll also establish and implement project plans, including schedule of all tasks, milestones and be responsible for resource management.
You’ll be responsible for leading a small team to deliver a number of projects and reporting progress to senior management teams.
Who we’re looking for
You’ll have a track record of successfully delivering change projects on time and to budget. You’ll have managed high-profile, high-value projects and be comfortable with the additional level of responsibility that brings.
Being adaptable to changing requirements and having the ability to reprioritise your workload will stand you in good stead.
You’ll need to have:
- A relevant degree or professional qualification in project management such as APM or PRINCE2
- Experience of leading and delivering sizable and complex projects through a whole lifecycle
- Experience of delivering change projects in transport or asset management organisations.
It would be beneficial if you also had:
- Membership of the Association for Project Management or another relevant professional body
- Experience of delivering projects within the rail industry
- Experience of working within the public sector and/or with Government officials
